To better connect us to the communities we serve, the NAACP Image Awards® will nationally recognize individuals who are NAACP Members for the work they do to improve their community, educate the masses, identify the problems, and lead the revolution to fix it. No matter how small or grand the revolution, the values and commitment of these individuals are essential to the mission of the NAACP, and these Activists deserve to be celebrated.

These social justice warriors must be submitted by their NAACP branch for consideration of the NAACP Activist of the Year Award. Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee to determine the top twenty (20) nominees, who will then be presented to the Image Awards Committee to select the top six finalists. A dedicated web page will be designed for the campaign, and the branch and Activist will also be encouraged to promote the campaign via social media. The six (6) nominees would be voted on by NAACP board of directors, members and national staff. Once selected, the NAACP Activist of the Year will be notified, and hosted by the NAACP Image Awards® to attend the ceremonies. The winning award(s) recipient will be announced during the Non-Televised Awards Dinner, as well as walk the red carpet and attend the 51st NAACP Image Awards®.
