ABOUT

To better connect us to the communities we serve, the NAACP Image Awards® will nationally recognize individuals who are NAACP Members for the work they do to improve their community, educate the masses, identify the problems, and lead the revolution to fix it. No matter how small or grand the revolution, the values, and commitment of these individuals are essential to the mission of the NAACP, and these Activists deserve to be celebrated.

PROCESS

These social justice candidates must be submitted by their NAACP Youth & College Unit for consideration of the NAACP Youth Activist of the Year Award. Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee to determine the top ten (10) nominees, who will then once again rank the top six finalists. The six (6) nominees would then be voted on by NAACP youth board of directors, youth work committee chair, Y&C state youth presidents, Y&C staff and youth advisors. Once selected, the NAACP Youth Activist of the Year will be notified on February 12, 2020, and hosted by the NAACP Image Awards® to attend the ceremonies in Los Angeles, CA. The winning award recipient will be announced during the Non-Televised Awards Dinner on Friday, February 21, 2020, as well as walk the red carpet and attend the 51st NAACP Image Awards® on Saturday, February 22, 2020.
